The girls basketball team is currently 6-0, rolling into this weekends games against Joliet and Boulder, undefeated. I spoke with a few girls about how they felt about the community support. Most of the girls answered explaining how local support brings up the intensity levels, which allows the team to perform at their best. So keep coming and cheering on our Herder teams.
I asked the team about when they felt they began to feel most like a team. Answers varied but the most common answer was during their game vs. Whitehall. Junior, Ella Holman said,“The Whitehall game at home is when we felt most like a team, both on the court and the bench. We just jelled and everyone knew their role and played their part.”
Bailey Finn said they work as a team, “by not being selfish and just making the extra pass if needed. I think we play well inside and outside and we play well as a team.” Playing together and staying positive is one of the most significant parts of being a team.
I asked the team what basketball taught them that carries over into other areas of life? Most spoke about how basketball has taught them about work hard, not to have an attitude when things go wrong, but most of all the unforgettable friendships they have been awarded over the years.
The girls have 12 more games before tournaments and this season is looking promising.
