Introducing another amazing student graduating this year from Sweet Grass County High School,Callan McDonnell. Callan participated in several fun activities throughout her time at SGHS she did 3 years of speech and drama, 3 years of jazz band, 4 years of pep band, 4 years as a Thespian in the school play, and 1 year of SAVY. Besides her school pursuits Callan also participated in 4H archery for 2 years. Callan’s favorite activities have been Speech and Drama and being a thespian, however it was a tough call for Callan. She says about picking a favorite, “it feels like choosing a favorite child”.
Callan has many diverse interests some of which are cooking, special effects (SFX) makeup, writing poetry, archery, and memes. Callan also shared that her favorite color is purple because. She said, “it reminds me of my childhood because my walls were purple.”
Some of Callan’s most memorable moments include driving 12 people to jazz band performances in the winter and fun yet chaotic speech & drama. There was also pep band tournaments and music festival which were fun.
When asked if she had any advice for other high school students, Callan said, “Don’t be mean to freshman. Don’t act better than people we are still children that are getting our lives together. We are doing our best and it’s a vibe.”
After high school, Callan is planning to attend University of Montana in Missoula to get a bachelor’s in social work and a master’s in occupational therapy. When asked why she has chosen those as a career path Callan said, “I like the idea of helping people and hands-on, one on one with people.”
If Callan were stranded on a desert island the three things she would take would be “a hatchet, tent, and a water purifier because if the water is good then I can slurp.”
