Here in our current predicament in Big Timber, Montana we may be confined to our homes and certain outdoor activities following the Governor’s directives and communal rule of social distancing. Because of all of this I wanted to talk about some of the things that we could do as families and even personally as we go about our day to day lives.

First thing is, who doesn’t like a movie with the family? For us students it could be a nice break from homework. It could be a thing at the end of the day where we unwind and forget about the COVID-19 outbreak that ravages the world. We can utilize the retreat of safety, love, and support that families provide as well as the escape of a good movie. I know that it may be hard to forget about this virus with it being at the forefront of every conversation and every headline you see, but we do have a chance to pull away and revel in the fact that we still have a lot despite current circumstances.

Another fun option is board games. For those of us who wish to be out and doing sports this a fun way to vent the competition into something that builds relationships and pulls people together. It’s a way to have fun and unwind from the events of the day whether that be work or school. Who knows, maybe you could train your dog to deal a hand for cards. —If you do I want to see it.—

Lastly, even though there are a plethora of options, maybe you could do a project making your home feel homier. You could finish that renovation job that you started and never finished. You could rearrange some living spaces. Sometimes when we’re stuck somewhere all we need is a change of scenery. Maybe one of the ways that you could do that is rearranging those living spaces.

Overall, there are a number of things we could do in this time of social distancing and self-quarantine. This may just be that start to your very own brainstorm to the things that you could do. I think that at this time we should definitely press into family and the things that make us happy and joyful. We know what those things are for us. Press into that and utilize it. Be safe out there and be mindful of those around you, but still pray for each other and check in on friends. Make phone calls and know the things you can do to serve others in their need. Hang in there hope you all are doing well.
