As we are rapidly approaching graduation, the SGCHS journalism staff would like to shine this week’s senior spotlight on Raelynn Thomasson. Throughout high school, she has been involved with many activities including FFA, track, basketball, volleyball, SAVY, and National Honors Society. Her most memorable high school experience includes one of her closest friends, Riley Prather. Raelynn says, “I think if I were to pick a single moment … I would pick the moment Riley Prather and I landed in Washington D.C. all by ourselves for the Washington Leadership Conference - an opportunity through the FFA. I was filled with excitement for the week to come, a little fear of having to navigate through this HUGE city, and so much pride - there we were two small-town girls getting on a Metro Subway in the capital of the United States of America about to embark on a life-changing experience”.
After graduation, Raelynn plans to become an Air Force ROTC member while attending MSU in Bozeman to earn her degree in nursing. Her advice to upcoming high school students is to “...not take high school super seriously. Yes, high school is important, and getting your schoolwork done is vital but so is living life. Enjoy the four years you have to fail or screw up. Cherish the time you have with your friends and family. Do not take high school so seriously that you miss all the fun you can have in these four years”.
If Rae were to become stranded on a desert island, she would make sure to bring along her Bible, a hiking pack, and her dog Thomas.
We wish Raelynn the best of luck as she begins all of her new adventures!
