The Adult & Community Education program offers classes to adults of any age who are interested in learning new hobbies and skills. There are a wide range of classes offered which highlight the knowledge and talents of our very own community members. We were thrilled to be able to offer a great variety of classes during the 2021-2022 school year and are looking to do the same in 2022-2023!
Spring 2023
Class #1: Kumihimo Jewelry Making
Instructor: Tali Snedigar
Dates: Wednesdays- March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29
Time: 5:00-6:30pm
Location: SGHS Library
Class Description: Tali Snedigar will be teaching a 5-week Kumihimo Jewelry making class. You will learn the Japanese braiding technique of Kumihimo. You'll learn how to set up, create a braid, and how to add beads to the braid. We will be making a Necklace/Bracelet set or a Necklace/Earring set. All of the materials needed will be provided. Bring a large pendant if you have one you'd like to use.; there will be a limited selection of pendants to choose from. Class is limited to 10 people.

Class #2: Breakfast Prep
Instructor: Natasha Stenberg
Date: Monday, May 8
Time: 6:00-7:30pm
Location: SGHS FCS Room
Class Description: Learn how to start the day off right with a quick and balanced breakfast! Natasha will guide you through the importance of breakfast and how to create a healthy meal that fits into a busy schedule. You'll even get to learn four new recipes that you can take home with you. This class is limited to 10 participants (2 per kitchen space) and will need a minimum of 4 participants to run.

Class #3: Basics of Photography

Class Description: Get into a new hobby with this year's photography class! You will learn the basics of photography in a 4 hour, intensive photography class- then will get to go practice your craft at three separate locations in the month of June! You will explore portrait, landscape and night photography all around the Big Timber area. This class is perfect for photographers of all levels. Whether you've been taking photos for 20 years or recently purchased a camera to capture photos of your family, this class is made for you. Students age 13 and up are welcome. This class is limited to 20 people.

Class #4: Cast Iron, Beautiful Trees & Shrubs for Montana
Instructor: Sandi Blake
Date: Wednesday, May 24
Time: 5:30-7:00pm
Location: Start at the Lion's Club Park. We will walk and/or drive from there
Class Description: Explore the vast possibilities of landscaping your property in Montana with easy-care, ornamental trees and shrubs. Discover the joy of year-round beauty of flowers, fragrance, leaves, bark and berries. Learn which of these stalwarts attracts birds and butterflies, which stay put, and which sucker and spread. We'll touch on pruning techniques and much more. There is no limit for this class.

Class #5: Heartsaver 1st Aid
Instructor: AHA Certified Instructors
Date: Tuesday, April 18th
Time: 6:00-9:00pm
Location: Sweet Grass Ambulance Barn
Class Description: This course is the American Heart Association 1st Aid. An ecard will be issued once the course is completed through AHA. There is no limit for this class. Registration deadline is Thursday, April 13th
Cost: $50
*If taken in conjunction with the Heartsaver CPR, the cost of the class will be $75.
Class #6: Heartsaver CPR
Instructor: AHA Certified Instructors
Date: Wednesday, April 19th
Time: 6:00-9:00pm

Class Description: This course is the American Heart Association AED/CPR. An ecard will be issued once the course is completed through AHA. This class is limited to 12 people. Registration deadline is Thursday, April 13th

Class #7: Pediatric 1st Aid, CPR/AED
Instructor: AHA Certified Instructors
Date: Thursday, April 20th
Time: 5:30pm

Class Description: This course is the American Heart Association Pediatric 1st Aid/CPR/AED course required by the state to work in daycare settings. An ecard will be issued once the course is completed through AHA. This class is limited to 12 people. Registration deadline is Thursday, April 13th

Class #8: Yoga

Class Description: Join Lori on Wednesdays in March, April and May and perform movements that connect the mind and body in a peaceful, relaxing and therapeutic way. All ages and experience levels are welcome. This class is limited to 15 people.

Class #9: Chinese Cuisine CLASS IS FULL
Instructor: Tom Sharp
Date: Saturday, April 22nd
Time: 10:00am-2:00pm
Location: Tom’s House- information will be given upon registration
Class Description: Mix up your cooking repertoire with some delicious Chinese cuisine! This class will be personalized for those who take it. Once you register, you will be put in touch with Tom to tell him what you would like to learn! This class is limited to 6 people.

Class #10: Intro to Pickleball
Instructor: Jacki Franklin
Date: Fridays- March 3, 10, 17, 24
Time: 5:15-7:00pm
Location: Civic Center
Class Description: Join Jacki and Joan and learn the basics of Pickleball! This class will cover fundamental skills, basic techniques, scoring systems and more. Please wear clean gym shoes and athletic clothing. This class is limited to 15 people.

Class #11: Chair Fitness
Instructor: Jackie Emter
Date: Tuesdays & Thursdays: March, 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30
Time: 4:30-5:15pm
Location: Greycliff School Multi-purpose Room
Class Description: This is a beginner class geared toward people needing to regain confidence in their workout routine. Jackie will bring you through a slow progression of yoga inspired stretches, coordination, balance, range of motion and strength exercises- all done from a chair! Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water and a clean pair of gym shoes. This class is limited to 12 people.

Class #12: Parenting in the Digital Age
Instructor: Tara Locke
Dates: Monday, March 27th or Tuesday, March 28th (choose only one date)
Time: 6:00-7:30pm
Location: SGHS Library
Class Description: We want to teach our kids that technology is fun and useful but can be harmful. In this class, learn how to make a plan to prepare your kids to live in a technology-filled world, and learn to let go of fear-based parenting techniques, which are ineffective and often backfire. This class is for parents with children of any are. There is no limit for this class.

Class #13: Weight Lifting
Instructor: Jason Ferguson
Date: Monday, March 6th
Time: 5:00-6:00pm
Location: SGHS Weight Room
Class Description: Practice basic weight lifting exercises with a focus on proper form and safety. There is no limit for this class.
