Congratulations to the girls basketball team for their 56-46 victory over Lockwood last night! Herder Basketball is back in action Saturday in Manhattan. Girls C-Squad starts at 3:00, Boys and Girls JV start at 4:30, Boys Varsity starts at 6:00 and Girls Varsity starts at 7:30. The Wrestlers are also headed to the State Tournament in Billings this weekend! Colter, Gage, Trae and Zane will be representing SGHS at the Metra Friday and Saturday. Welcome back for another week Herders! Congratulations to our wrestlers who qualified for the State Tournament this weekend! Colter Fleming (126 lbs.), Gage McGillvray (132 lbs.), Trae DeSaveur (138 lbs.) and Zane Cox (182 lbs.) will be representing SGHS at the Metra on Friday and Saturday. Good Luck and Well Done!!! The Basketball teams had another good weekend as well with both the girls and boys teams picking up Senior Night wins on Friday against Joliet. The girls won 53-26 and the boys won 57-44. The girls basketball team also had a big victory on Saturday in Jefferson against the #1 team in the state. They took home the 63-51 victory against the Panthers. Awesome job Herders! Basketball heads into the final week of the regular season with home games TOMORROW vs. Lockwood. It is Paint the Gym Blue night so wear your Herder Blue and support our student-athletes!

IT IS GAME DAY! FFA is in Miles City today at the Beef Breeders Livestock Judging Contest. Herder Basketball is HOME today against Joliet. It is also Senior Honor Night for our basketball players, cheerleaders and pep band members. Girls JV starts at 3:00, Boys JV and Girls C-Squad start at 4:30 (c-squad will be a half game in the Civic Center), Girls Varsity will start at 6:00 and Boys Varsity will start at 7:30. Senior Honor Night festivities will take place in between the two Varsity games. Wrestling will head to Laurel this afternoon to prepare for their Divisional Tournament tomorrow. Attention SGHS Alumni! All Pep Band Alumni are Invited to perform at this Friday's home games vs. Joliet. Rehearsal will be Thursday night (2/3) at 6:00 pm in the SGHS Band Room. Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Basketball teams for a successful weekend. The girls team beat Columbus on Friday night 55-26. Both the boys and the girls came out on top in Whitehall on Saturday. The boys won 45-36 and the girls won 53-42. Well done!! HUGE Congratulations Kassia Larson and Trinity Duncan for making it to the State Semi-Finals for Speech & Drama! They competed in the Humorous Duo category and had a fantastic season. Way to go Kass and Trinity!!! FFA had a great outing in Lewistown at the Fergus Ag Mechanics contest. The Senior team took 1st place with Jake Chulyak taking 1st overall, Guildy Browning placing 4th, Avery Durfee placing 8th and Coltyn LaRue placing 10th. Cole Ferguson placed 9th overall for the Junior Mechanics team. Congratulations FFA!!! The Wrestlers had their final matches of the regular season in Hardin this weekend. Oscar Toulouse placed 6th at 120 lbs., Gage McGillvray took 1st place at 132 lbs., Trae DeSaveur placed 2nd at 138 lbs., Taw and Charlie Seemann both placed 4th at 152 and 160 lbs. respectively and Zane Cox took 2nd place at 182 lbs. Ok Herder Fans today is an exciting day but the fun does not stop there! Here are the upcoming games and activities for the rest of the weekend: Tomorrow (1/29): Speech & Drama will be in the 2nd day of their State Tournament in Huntley. Lia Thompson is competing in Spontaneous Interpretation and Kass Larson and Trinity Duncan are competing in Humorous Duo! Wrestling will be in Hardin for their last match before Divisionals. Boys & Girls Basketball will be over in Whitehall. There will NOT be a Girls C-Squad or Girls JV game. Boys JV starts at 1:00, Girls Varsity starts at 2:30 and Boys Varsity starts at 4:00. Congratulations to our Herders on another great competition weekend! The Girls Basketball team started things off on Friday with a 49-22 win over Townsend. Both the Boys and the Girls teams are back in action this Friday (1/28) at home against Columbus. The JV Girls start things off at 3:00. The Wrestlers were in Lewistown for the Class A Duals on Friday and Saturday. As a team, they placed 7th out of 24 teams. Individually, Colter Fleming went 7-1 at 126 lbs., Gage McGillvray went 5-3 at 132 lbs., Trae DeSaveur went 5-3 at 138 lbs., Charlie Seemann went 6-2 at 160 lbs., and Zane Cox went 4-3 at 182 lbs. The wrestling team hits the mat again this weekend in Lockwood. Weigh- in is 4:00 on Friday afternoon (1/28). Speech and Drama competed in the Southern B Divisional Tournament on Saturday. Lia Thompson placed 8th in Spontaneous Interpretation, Kassia Larson and Trinity Duncan placed 6th in Humorous Duo! The top 8 competitors in each event qualify to compete at the State Tournament next weekend! Great job and Good Luck at State!! Lastly, Big Timber FFA had a great trip to Great Falls for the KMON meats, livestock, and agronomy contests this weekend. The Livestock Evaluation Team took First Place with the following team members placing in the top 10 individually: Morgan Anderson (1st), Jake Stene (3rd), David Paul Hathaway (4th), Trevor Halvorson (5th), Mollie Ruth (6th), Josh Steve (10th). The Meat Evaluation team placed 2nd with the following team members placing in the top 10: Morgan Anderson (3rd), Mollie Ruth (5th), Weston Sondeno (6th). The Agronomy team placed 7th with Madi Wolfe placing 9th individually. Next up for the FFA team, they will be heading to Lewistown for the Fergus Agriculture Mechanics CDE this Saturday (1/29). Good Morning and Welcome to the start of 2nd Semester Herders! First of all, Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Basketball teams! Thursday night the girls team beat Manhattan 59-25. On Friday, both the boys and girls came away with victories in Lockwood. The boys won 47-39 and the girls won 63-29. Well done! The Wrestlers were at another tough tournament in Miles City over the weekend. Colter Fleming placed 5th at 126 lbs., Gage McGillvray placed 3rd at 132 lbs., Trae DeSaveur took 1st in the second chance bracket at 138 lbs., Taw Seemann took 2nd in the second chance bracket at 152 lbs., Charlie Seemann placed in the top 10 at 160 lbs., and Zane Cox placed 2nd in the second chance bracket at 182 lbs. The Herders/Rangers placed 5th overall as a team and were 2nd out of the Class A Montana schools. Awesome Job!!
