For the last several months, Sweet Grass County High School has been gathering information from students, faculty and administrators about education items that SGCHS should focus on for the next several years. We are at the point where we are now ready to welcome input from all of our community members.

Class #8: Kumihimo Jewelry Making
Tali Snedigar will be teaching a 4-week Kumihimo Jewelry making class. You will learn the Japanese braiding technique of Kumihimo, learn how to set up, create a braid, and how to add beads to the braid. We will be making a Necklace/Bracelet set or a Necklace/Earring set. All of the materials needed will be provided. Bring a large pendant if you have one you'd like to use; there will be a limited selection of pendants to choose from.
Class will be held on Sundays 1:00-3:00 January 9, 16, 23, 30 at the SGHSl conference room. The class costs $45 for all 4 weeks and is limited to 10 people.

Good Morning Herders!
Picture retakes for the Fall Sports teams will be tomorrow (11/30).
Individual photos will start at 9:00am and team photos will follow.
Please pick up an order form from the office if you would like to order photos. If you ordered from LifeTouch back in the fall, you will be reimbursed by them.
Wednesday (12/1) the QPR Institute will be here in Sweet Grass County to deliver an important presentation about suicide prevention.
The presentation will be at 6:00 pm at the Sweet Grass Arts Theatre on McLeod St. This presentation is free of charge and does not require an RSVP.

Adult & Community Education: Winter Session 2021-2022
Class #6: Chinese Cuisine
Tom Sharp is offering one of his popular Chinese Cuisine classes. In this class you will learn some techniques for cooking your own Chinese food!
Class will be held on Saturday, January 22nd from 11:00am-3:00 pm at Tom's House.
The cost for this class is $25. It is limited to 6 people.

Adult & Community Education: Winter Session 2021-2022
Class #5: Beginning Crochet Skills
Join Amy Krum for a 4-week class where you will learn the basic chains and stitches to lay the foundation for crochet crafts and projects.
Class is held on Wednesdays: January 19th - February 9th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the SGHS Library.
This cost is $50 for all 4 classes and is limited to 6 people.

Class #4: Meal Prep
In this class Registered Dietitian, Natasha Stenberg will teach you some techniques for meal prepping that will help your meals become healthier and more enjoyable to make, no matter how hectic your schedule may be!
Class will be on Wednesday, January 12th from 6:00-7:00 in the SGHS FCS room.
This class costs $20 and is limited to 10 people (2 per kitchen space). Sign up on your own or with a friend!

Adult & Community Education: Winter Session 2021-2022
Class #7: Pickleball
Lace up your shoes and join Jackie Franklin and Joan McDaniel on the court for some Pickleball! You will learn the basic fundamentals and strategies and become a life-long enthusiast of this popular pastime.
Session 1 will be on Tuesdays: December 7th - January 11th from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Civic Center.
Session 2 will be on Tuesdays: January 18th- February 22nd from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Civic Center.
Each session costs $50 and lasts 6 weeks. Sessions are limited to 6 people and you are welcome to sign up for both sessions.

Adult & Community Education: Winter Session 2021-2022
Class #2: Photography 101
This is a 15-week digital photography class where Mayzie Purviance Cremer will teach you everything she knows about taking a decent photo. From basic shooting to advanced editing, she will do her best to turn you into a better photographer. Classes will consist of learning basic photography skills and concepts, as well as peer review and discussion of student photos.
Classes will be held on Thursdays from December 2nd to March 24th from 6:00-7:30 in Mrs. Lannen's classroom at the High School.
This class costs $75 for all 15 classes and is limited to 20 people.

Class #3: Weightlifting
Join Jason Ferguson up in the weight room to learn some basic weightlifting techniques and safety.
Class will be held on Tuesdays: December 28th - January 18th from 4:00-4:30 pm in the SGHS Weightroom.
This class costs $20 for all 4 classes and is limited to 8 people.

Newsletters for our Winter Session were mailed out last week and have information on our class offerings this winter as well as instructions on how to register. Class #1- Ceramics
Ms. Salena Spees will be teaching an 8-week ceramics class where you will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel, sculpture and slab. You will be able to throw bowls, mugs, create platters and unleash your creative side!
Class will be held on Wednesdays from December 1st to January 19th from 6:00-9:00 pm in the SGHS Art room.
The class costs $85 for all 8 weeks and is limited to 8 people.

We noticed a mistake on our Master Calendar and wanted to clarify that there will be a full day of school on Tuesday, November 23rd.
School will be out for Thanksgiving Break on Wednesday, November 24th and resume Monday, November 29th.
This mistake has been corrected on our calendar. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Don't forget the Winter Sports Meeting is TONIGHT at 7:00 pm in the SGHS Gym. Anyone who is interested in playing Basketball, Wrestling or Cheerleading this winter must be at the meeting tonight and a parent must be with you.

Rory Lannen (football): Second Team All-Conference Offensive and Defensive Lineman.
Kuirt Gullings (football): Second Team All-Conference Wide Receiver and Defensive Back.
Connor Giesecke (football): Second Team All-Conference Linebacker, First Team All-Conference Athlete, and All-State.
Alyssa Boshart (volleyball): First Team All-Conference and All-State.
John Hasbrook (boys soccer): Second Team All-Conference.
Karley Garton (girls soccer): Second Team All-Conference.
We would also like to Congratulate the FFA Team for an outstanding showing at the John Deere Ag Expo over the weekend.
The Farm Business Management Team placed 1st with Jake Chulyak placing 1st overall and Morgan Anderson placing 4th overall.
The Jr. Ag Mechanics Team placed 7th.
The Agronomy Team placed 9th.
The Livestock Tea placed 6th.
The Meats Team placed 2nd with Morgan Anderson placing 2nd overall, RaeAnna King placing 4th, Weston Sondeno placing 6th and Rylie Swartz placing 8th.
The Veterinary Science Team placed 5th.
The Ag. Communications Team placed 4th with Paige Whalin placing 10th overall.
The Food Science Team placed 7th.
And Paige Wertheimer placed 2nd overall in Creed Speaking.

- Thursday 11/18: First Day of Winter Sports Practices! Make sure to have your sports physical and other paperwork in BEFORE practice on Thursday!
- Saturday 11/20: Speech & Drama will be competing in Red Lodge.

Mrs. Metcalf's Culinary Arts classes would like to give a huge shout out and big THANK YOU to Daryl & Debi Miller!
Students were fortunate enough to have Guest Chefs Daryl & Debi come in and work with them on creating Daryl's famous Popcorn Balls for Halloween! Daryl discussed varieties of popcorn and the process for making the perfect popcorn ball. Students had a blast with their festive treats and learned so much from the lesson.
