Last week SGHS brought 5 teams to the State FFA Convention in Great Falls. The students had a chance to showcase their skills they have worked extremely hard on all year. It was an extremely successful week with FOUR of the five teams coming home as state champions! Here are the results from the week: The Agricultural, Technology & Mechanics Team placed 1st, earning back-to-back State Championships. Jake Chulyak- 2nd place Guildy Browning- 8th place Allyson Hitt- 10th place Nathan Laubach The Livestock Evaluation Team placed 1st- SGHS has won this event 3 years in a row! Mollie Ruth- 2nd place Morgan Anderson- 4th place David-Paul Hathaway RaeAnna King The Veterinary Science Team placed 1st. Weston Sondeno- 3rd place Guildy Browning- 4th place Sierra Mauland- 6th place Jake Chulyak For the Junior Ag Mechanics Show: Coltyn Larue and Jaek Chulyak took 4th place in the Ag. Machinery Category for their Sled Deck. Allyson Hitt placed 3rd in the Ag. Machinery Category for her Plasma Cutting Table. Trae DeSaveur, William Donald, Morgan Anderson, Coltyn LaRue, Guildt Browning and Jake Chulyak placed 1st in the Livestock Equipment Category for their Artificial Insemination Box. In addition to 1st place, it won Grand Champion Overall Project at the show and the students won Grand Champion Showmanship for their presentation! The Individual Competition results are as follows: Prepared Public Speaking: Weston Sondeno, 3rd pace. Star in Agribusiness: Jake Chulyak, State Winner. Beef Entrepreneurship: Weston Sondeno, Silver ranking. Equine Entrepreneurship Proficiency: Paige Wertheimer, Silver ranking. Forestry Products and Processing Proficiency: Morgan Anderson, Bronze ranking. National Chapter Awards: Sierra Mauland filled out our application this year and received a Bronze ranking. We were awarded the Building Montana Communities 1st place award of $300 to help our endeavors to better our community. State Degree Recipients: This year 187 students received the highest degree in our state. SGHS is proud to have six of those recipients. We cannot be more proud of the work you have put in and are excited to celebrate your successes with you!

Congratulations to our Band and Choir students who participated in the District Music Festival for Large Groups on Monday! Band received split scores of "Good" & "Excellent" on their Prepared Music section. For Sight Reading, they scored "Excellent" across the board. Choir received "Superior" scores on their Prepared Music and Sight Reading. Congratulations to all!! Students will also compete in the District Music Festival for Solos and Ensembles on Monday, March 27th.

Hello Herders! Most of the Junior class will be taking the ACTs on March 28th, 29th, or 30th beginning at 8:00 am. Students should have received an email informing them of which day they will be taking the exam, or if they will be completing the exam at the end of next month. If you are unsure of which day you will be testing, please see Ms. Stewart.

We have some catching up to do with our recent FFA competition results! On Saturday, March 4th, the team attended the Conrad Mechanics Seminar. Jake Chulyak placed 1st in Mechanics. Ally Hitt placed 1st in Vet Science. Weston Sondeno placed 7th in Vet Science. On Monday, March 6th, the team attended the Border Wars Invitational at Sheridan College. The Farm Business Management Team placed 1st! Guildy Browning placed 4th. Jake Chulyak placed 5th. Ally Hitt placed 7th. Nathan Laubach and Sierra Mauland tied for 9th place. On Saturday, March 11th, the team attended the Kalispell Unlimited Ag. Mechanics Contest. The Team placed 2nd! Jake Chulyak placed 1st. Guildy Browning placed 2nd. Way to go FFA!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Girls Basketball team for their 43-34 win over Missoula Loyola in last night's game! The Lady Herders take on Malta at 8:00pm tonight in the semifinals. LET'S GO HERDERS!!!

ATTENTION SPRING SPORTS ATHLETES AND PARENTS! Due to the Girls Basketball team heading to the State Tournament this week, the Track and Golf coaches meetings have been rescheduled again. Both sports will meet on Monday, March 13th at 6:00pm. Track will be in the Cafeteria, Golf will be in the Library. We apologize for all the schedule changes!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Girls Basketball team for placing 2nd at Divisionals over the weekend! This win qualifies them for the STATE Tournament for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. The Lady Herders will take on Missoula Loyola on Thursday at 8:00pm at the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls. There has been a time change for the spring sports meetings next week. Golf will still meet on Monday, March 6th at 7:00pm in the cafeteria. Track & Field will meet on Tuesday, March 7th at 6:30pm in the cafeteria.
