We are off from school for Winter Break starting this afternoon! School will be dismissed at 1:30pm and we will resume classes on Tuesday, January 3rd. We wish all of our students and staff, and their families, a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Good Morning SGHS Families- Due to the increasingly cold temperatures and the potential for blowing and drifting snow, Sweet Grass County High School has made the decision to cancel classes for tomorrow, Thursday, December 22, 2022. All games, practices and meetings are cancelled for Wednesday, December 21 and Thursday, December 22, 2022. We will return to school as scheduled on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Basketball teams for their wins over Whitehall last night! The girls won 67-35 and the boys won 52-36. Way to go Herders!

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team for wins against Townsend and Three Forks this weekend. They beat Townsend 82-36 on Friday and Three Forks 55-21 on Saturday. Also Congratulations to the Wrestling team who placed 13th overall in a very tough tournament in Great Falls. Trae DeSaveur took 2nd place at 132lbs and Zane Cox took 8th place at 205 lbs. Way to go Herders!

It was brought to our attention that the link to sign up for the National Honor Society Christmas Camp was not working. We have fixed the problem and the google form is now accessible for all to be able to sign your kids up for the camp! It's Game Day Herder Fans! We have our first home basketball games of the season with our Herders facing Townsend. JV Boys will start things off at 3:00pm at the High School. JV Girls will follow at 4:30pm at the High School. C-Squad Boys will play at 4:30pm at the Civic Center. There will not be a C-Squad Girls game. The Varsity Boys tip off at 6:00pm at the High School and the Varsity Girls will close things out at 7:30pm at the High School. Big Pig BBQ will also be here serving pulled pork sandwiches during the JV and Varsity games. GO HERDERS!!!

This Thursday (12/15) we are having our Winter Concert where holiday music will be performed by our 5th-12th grade students! The concert will take place at the Civic Center and will start at 7:00pm. Admission is free. We hope to see everyone there!

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our Herders who competed over the weekend! Wrestling competed in the Powell Invitational and took home 5th place as a team. Gage McGillvray placed 1st at 138lbs. Trae DeSaveur placed 5th at 132lbs. Taw Seemann placed 6th at 152lbs. Zane Cox placed 4th at 195lbs. Boys and Girls Basketball had a successful weekend in Red Lodge. On Friday both the Boys and Girls teams came out victorious over Colstrip. The Boys won 76-22 and the Girls won 61-47. On Saturday, the Girls came out with the 52-37 win against Glasgow. On Saturday the Speech & Drama team competed in the Gardiner Invitational Tournament at Park High in Livingston. Both the Speech Team and the Drama Team took 4th place for the Class B schools in attendance. Noah Duncan and Cal Monday continued their silver streak with another 2nd place finish in Dramatic Theatre. Roman Wagner brought home first place in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Way to go Herders!!!

It's a big weekend for our Herders! Wrestling will be in Powell, WY for the Powell Invitational today and tomorrow. Girls and Boys Basketball will be playing in the Wooden Memorial Tournament in Red Lodge today and tomorrow. Today our JV and Varsity squads will play Colstrip starting with the Varsity Boys at 3:30pm. The varsity Girls will follow at 5:00pm. The JV Boys tip off at 6:00pm followed by the JV Girls at 7:30pm. Tomorrow just our Varsity teams are in action against Glasgow with the Girls at 12:30pm and the Boys at 2:00pm. Speech and Drama will be in Livingston tomorrow for a meet hosted by Gardiner. GO HERDERS!!!

On Monday, our FFA chapter hosted the Sweet Grass Showdown! We were excited to have over 30 schools represented and competing in several locations throughout town. We had plenty of team and individual success throughout the day! In Food Science, Zoey Aller took 3rd place individually. The Vet Science team placed 4th. Guildy Browning placed 1st individually and Weston Sondeno placed 2nd individually. The Livestock Evaluation team placed 1st with the following individuals placing in the top 10: RaeAnna King placed 2nd Mollie Ruth placed 3rd Morgan Anderson placed 4th Weston Sondeno placed 6th Tresten Rein placed 8th Rylee Swartz placed 9th The Meats Evaluation team also placed 1st with the following individuals placing in the top 10: Morgan Anderson placed 1st Weston Sondeno placed 3rd Guildy Browning placed 5th Jake Chulyak placed 7th Congratulations to all of our FFA competitors!!!
